Magpro is a powder that was specifically made with short magnums in mind, not regular calibers. This is why I believe the person that only gave this powder 3 stars didn’t obtain the desired velocities. Having said that, I use Magpro in a 270WSM and no other powder I’ve tried (IMR4831,H1000,H4831) has even gotten close to the velocities I’m getting with Magpro. My pet load is Rem case, WLRM primer, Nosler 140 gr Accubond and I’m getting 3265 fps with an extreme spread of 18fps. Accuracy is .75″ or better 5 shot group out of a slightly modified Remington 700. Now when using this powder BE CAREFUL because the load data available on Accurate’s site is extremely hot I also have another load using the same components above but with 70 grains of Magpro and 150 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips and I’m getting 3105 fps out of that load. This is faster than what a regular .270 can push a 130 grain bullet! So in conclusion, not every rifle does likes this powder but, if your lucky enough to own one that does, there is no better powder on the market right now than Magpro as far as velocity goes.
